Golf etiquette

The basic principle of conduct is the unwavering respect shown to everyone on the course. All players should behave in a disciplined manner, demonstrating courtesy and generosity, however strong the desire to win may be. Smoking (especially on the driving range and when children are playing nearby) is not welcomed on the premises of the sports facility, but is possible in specially designated informational signs. In addition, it is very important to play safely to avoid injury or trouble from accidental impact with a club, ball, rock, pebble, branch and similar objects, before hitting the ball or practice swing. It is the player’s responsibility to make sure that those present are at a safe distance. Do not take the kick until the players in front have moved out of the possible landing area. Before taking the kick, players should warn the on-field attendants near or in front of them if they are about to take a kick which might endanger them. If a player sends the ball in such a way that it might hit someone, the player should immediately shout a warning. It is traditional to yell “For!” in such situations.
In golf, etiquette refers to the rules of courtesy, keeping the courses in order, and taking care of the condition of the course even while a round is in progress (restore turf, patch pitch marks, smooth out tracks in bunkers).
Here are some highlights of golf etiquette:

  • refrain from playing with a tee until the group ahead has moved a safe distance away;
  • Do not stand in your opponent’s putt line and do not stand close to the player taking or preparing to take the shot, do not speak loudly or make sudden movements when the player is taking the shot;
  • The competing group always has the advantage on the field;
  • Remember, you only have five minutes to find the ball;
  • the maximum number of players per fly is 4 golfers, unless otherwise stipulated in the regulation of the competition;
  • do not take your clubs and bag onto the green, leave them on the collar toward the green toward the next hole;
  • return the flag to the cup carefully so as not to damage the surface of the green and the hole;
  • never delay play, all players must remember and execute a fast pace of play, release the green immediately after all players in your group have completed play on the hole. 9 holes in 2 hours, 18 holes in 4.5 hours; slow play is unacceptable and may result in a penalty or disqualification; starting times for groups regularly playing slowly may be changed to later;
  • Follow golf dress etiquette; blue jeans on the course and driving range are prohibited at private elite golf clubs.
